Alguém disse num filme do Wim Wenders que “às vezes temos de nos afastar das coisas para as podermos sentir”. No entanto a distância – das pessoas e dos lugares – parece inevitavelmente agravar esse estado de ausência, que toma a forma de algo condenado ao passado. Este é o ponto de partida deste filme, onde um homem volta à cidade onde cresceu muitos anos depois da sua partida. Confronta as suas memórias de infância e do passado, os rostos e os lugares, mas parecem já não estar lá. A distância aumenta cada vez mais.

[Someone said in a Wim Wenders film that “sometimes we have to move away from things so we can feel them”. However, this distance from certain people and places, seems to aggravate this state of absence, that ends up taking the form of something fated to the past. This is the bottom line for this film, where a man returns to his hometown, many years after a forced departure. He confronts his memories from childhood and from the past, he looks for the old faces and places, but seems that they’re not there anymore. The distance grows even more.]
